Rev. Dr. Loy Hoskins is our minister, but to us, he is Pastor Loy. He came to Augusta First Christian Church in January 2020 from Missouri where he had served a congregation as senior minister for eight years.
He has 25 years experience as a youth pastor, both part time and full time, and is still very involved in youth related events. He counsels and keynotes at church camps each summer, and in the past has coached baseball and softball; been a Scoutmaster and Cub Master; led FCA high school huddles; served on regional church youth cabinets for 14 years; and much more.
During his part time years as a youth pastor he was an educator, teaching public schools in Oklahoma, and at Sterling College here in Kansas after earning a doctorate degree in education from New Mexico State University. Pastor Loy attended Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa and was then ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
He is active in the community as a member of the Augusta Ministerial Alliance and serves as chaplain of the local American Legion Post. He is an Air Force veteran.
He and his wife – Rhonda, a registered nurse, have two sons, seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Most of them live in the Great Bend area.
We are thankful that God led Pastor Loy to our church. We love him and know that you will too.
